General Membership Meeting Minutes

June 9, 2010

The meeting was called to order by President Wes Wickham at 6:00 pm.

The members present introduced themselves:
Wes Wickham - Individual member, Amber M. Crawford - Crawford Design & Solutions, LLC,  Dawn Garcia -  PNC Bank,  Bob Gardner - Metamora Hadley Masonic Lodge,  Nancy Gardner,  Mike Hoban - Lapeer County Republican Party,  David Taylor - Lapeer County Board of Commissioners,  Susan Roberts - MCD Committee,  Cheryl Young - Curves of Metamora,  Larry Sullivan - Patriot Press,  Phil Andreae - Phillip J. Andreae Realtors,  Ann Peterson -  Coventry Realtors,  Betsy Bartlet - Curves of Metamora.

The minutes of the May meeting were approved as presented.

The treasurer's report was acknowledged as presented.

Membership:
  The committee reported one new member and that Phil and Carole were to meet next week to contact
some of the delinquent members.  Discussion followed regarding our low dues and lack of any paid staff (unlike almost all other Chambers).

Chamber Mixers:
  Amber volunteered to head up the Mixer committee
.  

MAYDA report:  MAYDA reapply for a grant next year
.  The MAYDA scholarships were awarded to Nicole Einheuser of Lapeer West and Danielle Crittenden of Lapeer East.

New Business: 
Amber agreed to head up a committee to publish our Metamora Directory immediately after Country Days.


Web site update:  The Chamber is looking 
for members to submit business news (free advertising items) to us for publication on our website.

Country Days:
Ann Peterson volunteered to staff our Chamber booth for Country Days.  The band, Zerapath is going to perform at Country Days for free.  Jason will be placed at the High Street House.  The Lions Club is working closely with the MCD committee.  Motorcycle Drill team will participate in
the parade again this year.  The Masonic Lodge will again have its Ice Cream Social and MICHIP program.

Chamber members Wes Wickham, Phil and Donna Andreae, Jim and Polly Boldt, Al Yunkes and Debbie Walker planted the Village flower boxes last week.
The Masonic Lodge is having a pancake breakfast the day of Celebration of the Horse and is looking for sponsors.
The Chamber is hosting a candidates night at the Lions Hall (July 20th) with the Chamber asking for the use of the Hall with the Chamber picking up all costs.  All candidates running in the August primary will be invited to be present and speak; question cards will be passed out to the audience.
Lapeer Regional Medical Center Foundation is holding their annual fundraiser (Golf Outing) at Devil's Ridge and Metamora Golf Clubs on June 28th with sign up on their website.
The Metamora Garden Tour for the benefit of Gallery 194 is being held on July 10th.  The gardens on tour will not be announced until the day of the tour and tickets are available from Wes, Metamora Foodland or the White Horse.  Pre sales are $12.00 and day of the event are $15.
The welcome to Metamora sign is in need of repainting.
Larry Sullivan announced that he is running for County Commissioner.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40.

Metamora Hunt Hunter Pace

The Metamora Hunt Hunter Pace is next Sunday, July 11th. and we would love to see all of you out there riding with your friends! The Hunter Pace will start from the Hunt Kennels on Sunday morning between 8am and 11am. The entry form is available on our website: www.metamorahunt.com, or from Bob Carden: bob.carden@jewellphoto.net
If you are not able to ride in the Hunter Pace, we need volunteers that day, so please contact Bob Carden: 586-907-8594.
 
Trail Trimming:
In view of the holiday weekend, we will modify the trail trimming schedule. This Sunday we will pull several old and delapidated coops and bring them back to the Kennels. This should only take an hour. We need pickup trucks without caps and some strong backs. Meet at the Kennels at 9am. Please contact Joe Kent with any questions: 248-628-2065.
